| Video production for web and social media are important assets that any business needs to create if they are to stay ahead of their competitors. As a Commercial Photographer, video production is something I provide as part of my service.
I was recently commissioned to shoot video with the co-operation of Known Community, a PR Agency in Brighton. They represent the brand, PLS London, a new hair extension Company based in London. Launching in August they needed moving imagery for their website and Social media platforms.
- To create short 5 to 30 second clips with an edgy lifestyle feel profiling various hair extension types.
- To shoot, “How to” application videos demonstrating the different stages of application.
A fantastic location was chosen to be the backdrop of the shoot, Gods Own Junkyard in Walthamstow, London. This large warehouse which contains every neon and light sign you can imagine was the brainchild of artist Chris Bracey. Visit if you love neon! http://www.godsownjunkyard.co.uk/
They were extremely accommodating and I can highly recommended this place for shoots.
The day was spent entirely on location with 4 female models who were booked in to create various looks for the different hair extensions they were going to sell.
There were a variety of corners to shoot in so while the models were getting their make up and hair styled I went on a mini recce to decided the best places to shoot. I used this time to shoot some of the neon signs to include in the edit afterwards.
Styling and makeup complete, I was then directed to shoot using the amazing neon lights as the backdrop.
The idea of the shoot was to create edgy lifestyle type videos producing short 5 to 30 second clips that could be used for Instagram and website.
There really couldn’t have been a better location. This place has been used as a for music videos, interviews and TV as well as Vogue shoots.
The day went smoothly thanks to good preparation by Known and the client walked away happy which is always my aim. I then spent two days editing the footage to provide the client with a hand full of clips to use for launch.
Behind the Scenes Snippits
One of the most lovable things to come out of this place was the Junkyard dog, “Reckless”, who kindly guarded my equipment when I arrived! He even has his own Instagram.
I know he’s not “attractive” in the normal sense for a dog, I.e. Small and fluffy, but he couldn’t have been more soft!
