Unveiling the Art of Product Photography: Designing Full Wrap Posters for WHSmith at Alicante Airport

In the fast-paced world of retail, capturing the essence of a brand through visually appealing means is an art form in itself! As a Brighton product photographer, I recently embarked on an exciting project for a long standing client. They commissioned me to create full wrap posters for WHSmith at Alicante airport, utilising my product photography expertise and Illustrator skills to craft captivating visuals that now adorn the store's façade.

A Glimpse Into the Project Journey


The task at hand was to transform raw product photography images which I shot earlier in the year, into larger-than-life posters that would serve as eye-catching displays for WHSmith's storefront at Alicante airport. This project required a meticulous approach, following WHSmith's strict guidelines.


Bridging Photography and Design


Drawing upon my experience as a seasoned product photographer, I used my high-quality images showcasing Wild Science Lab's products combining them with graphics which would resonate with viewers at first glance. Whenever I shoot images I am always aware copy or some sort of graphic has to be placed in the frame, so I always leave empty space in the image. Most times images are shot for a specific purpose so you known where copy is usually going, however, these were a mix of images. The challenge I faced was to find images with free areas to drop graphics into and where to place them on the wrap so they would fit as a cohesive set.





Crafting Full Wrap Posters: The Art of Storytelling


Designing full wrap posters is akin to telling a story through visuals. Each element, from the layout to the colour scheme, plays a crucial role in conveying the brand's message. I needed to make sure the images and messages would would not only capture peoples attention but also leave a lasting impression on passersby and hopefully draw people into the store to buy the products.
